Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
(1937)
Courvoisier cel of some dwarfs
The Dwarfs look upon the bathing tub with the mixed emotions of concern, confusion, and dread! This fantastic Courvoisier cel setup shows five of the Seven Dwarfs. Only Dopey and Grumpy are missing from the scene. Dopey is looking across at Doc from outside the frame, and Grumpy watches the whole episode from afar—disdainfully reminding the others that the new princess is using her evil feminine wiles on them.
This setup is a fantastic example of the creative genius and attention to detail that was so important to the Disney animators. In the ripples of the washtub you see the cautious reflections of the soon to be cleaned Dwarfs.
The entire setup is displayed on the original Courvoisier wood veneer background with the shadows of the Dwarfs stained on. The original Courvoisier matte frames the cel, the WDP stamp is visible in the lower left hand corner of the matte, and the Courvoisier label has been included on the back of the new frame.
This scene occurs at 43:11 in the film. The artwork measures 8.5" x 11.25" while the frame measures 16.5" x 18.5". Price is reflective of the art only--the piece comes with the frame pictured. There is no change in price due to the frame--it can be de-framed upon request at purchase, but it will not change the price of the piece. Cel has become slightly wavy which is fairly common for vintage animation cels. The light reflection is visible in the web image only and is not on the actual piece. There is some glue residue from the cel which can be seen as the cel has separated slightly from the background. Still in great condition for a vintage cel and we do not recommend restoration unless to move the cel back into position. There are a few small areas of paint separation. They are only really
visible upon close examination. The character size is 6.5" h x 11.5" w. US$ 12500 (framed).
