She is the smallest of the three fairies that were assigned to protect Briar Rose during her stay in the forest. All decked out in blue, Merryweather has a mind of her own and often rebels against Flora's decrees. If she is not the brains of the trio, she sure considers herself to be. We all love this spunky little fairy and her personality is preserved wonderfully through her pose and facial expression in this cel. What is even more wonderful about this piece is that the original fairy dust cel layer was preserved with the piece which really makes for a magical viewing experience. Of all the characters in Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent is the one that people remember the most. Even her name, which combines the words "Malice" and "Malevolent", speaks to her pure evil nature. In her human form she is tall and slender and wears a black headdress and a striking cloak. Her expression is one of contempt and this is made evident by her thin, highly arched eyebrows, villainous purple eye shadow and piercing eyes. This evil fairy hates all things that are good and there is not better partner in crime for her than her wicked raven sidekick. This would be a wonderful piece for those who are collecting villains, or just love Sleeping Beauty. Disneyland cel set-up of Briar Rose and The Owl from Sleeping Beauty WOW! We were so excited when we saw this piece come in. This is one of the best Briar Rose cels that we've ever seen from one of the most famous, if not the most beloved scenes in the film. The "Once Upon a Dream" segment is quite sought after by the most prestigious of Sleeping Beauty collectors. This scene opens with the fairies trying their best to prepare for the girls 16th birthday. They want a "real birthday party" and a "real birthday cake". Meanwhile Briar is out for a walk and speaking to her forest friends about her dream of meeting a handsome stranger. She is convinced that she will meet him in person one day and marry him. While this is going on the prince hears her song and falls off of his horse into a stream. Shortly after he hangs his clothes on the tree to dry out, the forest animals find them and quickly use the cloak and boots to provide Briar with a dreamy dancing partner. Briar’s expression in this cel is absolutely priceless and there is no doubt that she is singing a beautiful love song. With her mouth slightly open and her eyes a little closed, dancing with her owl Prince, we, just like the price can hear her lovely song.
