Tugboat Mickey (1940)|
Key master set-up of Donald Duck.
Donald joins up with Mickey and Goofy to get the old tugboat going in this short that parodies the War of the Worlds radio play. In this lovely master the unlucky duck gets caught up in a gag as the tugboat does everything it can to derail their endeavors.
The scene appears at 4:01 in the film.
Cel has become slightly wavy which is common for vintage animation cels. The character cel and a clear overlay cel are affixed to the background by staples along the upper edge; two at each corner and one halfway across the upper edge, these can be easily matted out. There is evidence of very slight lifting in the character’s buttocks and feet. There is evidence of multiple pin holes by the upper corners of the background and within the margins which can be easily matted out. As pinning up work for evaluation was often part of the creative process, this is fairly common for this type of work. There is evidence of a staple hole in the left and right margins of the background located 2.0" above the lower corners which can be easily matted out. There is evidence of surface paper loss, darkened tape residue and paint bleeding in the background’s margins which can all be easily matted out.
