| the Evil Queen | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Production drawing of the Evil Queen The Queen/Witch is easily the most powerful character in Snow White. Here she is being portrayed as the cold hearted yet deceptively beautiful evil queen. When we see the queen, she is adorned with her brilliant crown, spectacular robe with high-winged collar, and a royal pendant. Her face is illustrated with thin pursed lips, wickedly arched eyebrows, and black eyes as black as her heart. She is so shallow and obsessed with her looks that she constantly asks the question to her magic mirror, "mirror, mirror, on the wall who is the fairest of them all". This production drawing which has shades of red and black pencil captures her role as the most perfect Disney villainess. The piece exhibits slightly more than normal handling. Production drawing of the Evil Queen This phenomenal piece is from the scene when she learns that the heart she thought belonged to Snow White is actually the heart of a pig. It appears 49:09 into the film. This piece has plenty of wonderful notes that say: "I have shifted nose slightly & lowered eyelids and brows." It is said that the animators spent a lot of time trying to get her eyebrows, eyes, and mouth just right to represent a certain aristocratic beauty while also portraying her pure wickedness. This piece is an exquisite example of both capturing these qualities and very closely resembles the Queen as she appeared in this scene in the film. The piece exhibits slightly more than normal handling. The size of this piece is 12 Field (11"x13") and the character size is 8.75" h x 5" w. US$ 4800 (framed). WDDSST1 |

Production drawing of the Evil Queen The Evil Queen was flawlessly animated by Art Babbitt before her transformation into the Wicked Witch. In this drawing, we see her shrill personality show through via her thin sharply pointed eyebrows and her black eyes, half closed and looking on with disdain. The notes in the piece call attention to her golden pendant which is one of the most opulent parts of her aristocratic guise. Drawing # 1010 and the initials BJ are seen in the lower right corner. The drawing is in overall excellent condition and there is only very small evidence of handling running through the sides of the drawing. This condition is quite normal and happens to the older drawings due to the handling at the studio. The condition is only visible upon looking at the drawing very close and tilting it in the light. The size of this piece is 16 Field (13"x16") and the character size is 11" h x 6.5" w. US$ 3900 (unframed). WDDPP478 |

Production drawing of the Wicked Witch This is an outstanding piece of art depicting the cunning Wicked Witch. We can see her getting ready to fulfill her perfectly evil plan. She has a disfigured nose, sharply arched eyebrows and skeleton fingers which help to make her such a scary site. With her bony knuckles clutching the ruby red poisoned apple, she tempts the poor little princess. This drawing is number 437 of 13A, sequence 15. The drawing is slightly yellowed only at the very edges of the piece and there is some very slight crinkles in the piece on the upper left side which are flat and unapparent to the naked eye. The size of this piece is 12 Field (11"x13") and the character size is 7" h x 6" w. US$ 1250 (unframed). WDDPP477 |
