Babes In The Woods (1932) Model drawing of A Witch. This model drawing was used in the production of the 1932 Silly Symphony "Babes in the Woods." This was only the fifth cartoon to be released in color. The film was a loose adaptation of Hansel and Gretel, starring two hapless little Dutch children and one evil witch. Since the elves look so much like dwarves and the antagonist is a bent over old witch, it has been suggested that this short was a testing ground for some of the elements used in Disney's classic "Snow White."
