Blue Bayou (Make Mine Music) (1946) Storyboard of Some Alligators. This is a gorgeous piece and has quickly become a favorite of many staff members here. The use of color is very stylized, depicting foreground trees in shades of blue and a pair of alligators, rendered in black as they take the form of mere shadows. It is a peaceful night and as the steamboat rolls by it ejects billowing smoke from which magic blazing fragments travel the air in its wake. The piece is an excellent example of what Walt's animators were able to achieve with just one primary color.
In this short film we see a pair of storks find tranquility in the moonlit sanctuary of the Blue Bayou. The short has no dialogue and doesn’t have much of a plot, but what it does have is a extraordinary feeling of deep, ethereal peace within the confines of a hectic multi episode animated film we, the viewer receive a chance for a few moments to find a little rest.
This piece measures 9" x 8" total with an art aperture size of 8" x 6".
