The Old Mill (1942) Production drawing of Some Ducklings. This original production drawing from The Old Mill shows the action of several little ducklings as they scurry from the pond to the safety of their nest. The storm is coming and they will need to be prepared! This drawing is signed by the famed Disney animator Gustaf Tenggren who worked on the backgrounds and atmospheres of Snow White, Pinocchio, Bambi and The Ugly Duckling. Tenggren was a noted children’s book illustrator at the turn of the 20th century and was celebrated for his romantic old world style. The huddled ducklings and swaying cattails in these pencil sketches are fine examples of Tenggren’s ability to create dramatic scenes even in his simple work.
