The Great Mouse Detective (1986)

After the failure of “The Black Cauldron” to catch on with viewers, Disney’s animation department needed to prove its viability, and they did so with “The Great Mouse Detective.” This production cel features Basil, the Holmesian star of the film, lounging with his violin. Basil was a notoriously bad violin player but this persistent rodent never gave up, a quality which served him well in the film.
