The Ugly Duckling (1931) Courvoisier cel of The Ugly Duckling. Everyone is familiar with the inspiring tale of self acceptance told in “The Ugly Duckling.” Disney actually made two versions of this story, but this Courvoisier Cel of the lead character, hails from the 1939 version. This is a great full body image of the duckling, ugly or otherwise, and shows him pensively scratching head while looking into the water. He may feel ugly now but eventually he will find acceptance, and most importantly will learn to love himself, and he serves as an important reminder to us to do the same. Cel has become slightly wavy which is fairly common for vintage animation cels. The light reflection is only visible in the web image only and is not on the actual piece. Very slight paint separation in areas such as his left hand, forehead and feet, with no lifting and in excellent condition for vintage cels of its age. The cel has separated from the background. Still in great condition for a vintage cel and we do not recommend restoration unless to move the cel back into position.. The size of the image is 2.5" h x 2.5" w.
