Production cel of Mlle. Upanova.
In the opening moments of the Dance of the Hours Mlle. Upanova unfolds from her rest with a grande ronde de jambe and rises to wake the other ostriches in the corps de ballet. In preparation for creating the waltz, professional dancers were brought to the studio to demonstrate the ballet correct positions and movements for the steps to the animators. This cel of Mlle. Upanova captures the demure grace of those dancers perfectly.
The framed piece measures 14.50" x 16.25" with the aperture measuring 7.5" x 9.5".
We believe that this cel has been partially restored. Cel has become slightly wavy which is fairly common for vintage animation cels. The light reflection is only visible in the web image only and is not on the actual piece. There is evidence of slight line wear in the character’s right eyelash, neck and right wing tips. There is a faint crease in the cel located 1.25" below the upper edge of the aperture that runs horizontally and across a tip of the character’s pink bow.
Framing was done prior to its arrival at WWA thus the list price is reflective of the art only--the piece comes with the frame pictured. There is no change in price due to the frame--it can be de-framed upon request at purchase but will not change the price of the piece.
The size of the image is 4.25" h x 7" w.
