Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)|
Courvoisier cel of The Seven Dwarfs.
This fantastic Courvoisier cel set-up of all Seven Dwarfs is a stunning piece for any Disney collection. Each of the beloved drawfs embodies his descriptive moniker. Grumpy’s arms are folded across his chest as he broods, Sleepy’s eyes droop as he fights of a bought of narcolepsy, Sneezy’s nose is lifted as he braces himself for a nasal explosion, Bashful’s eyebrows are lifted in demure shock, Doc’s little spectacles have slid down on his plump nose, Happy’s smile lights up the room, and sweet Dopey’s face displays a big goofy grin. It is no wonder that three great animators like Davis, Johnston and Thomas signed this piece – it is the pinnacle of their collective hard work and something truly to be proud of.
The framed piece measures 20" x 23" with the aperture measuring 9.5" x 13.5".
We believe this to be a publicity cel.
Cel has become slightly wavy which is fairly common for vintage animation cels. The light reflection is only visible in the web image only and is not on the actual piece. There is some very slight mottling in the feet of the Dwarfs, the backside of Doc, and the right side of characters Dopey and Grumpy. There is slight line wear throughout.
Framing was done prior to its arrival at WWA thus the list price is reflective of the art only--the piece comes with the frame pictured. There is no change in price due to the frame--it can be de-framed upon request at purchase but will not change the price of the piece.
Signed by Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston and Marc Davis.
