Alice in Wonderland (1951) Production cel of The March Hare. “A very merry un-birthday” to the March Hare on this fun cel. Unaware of Alice looking on, the March Hare taps his nose sings with the Mad Hatter at the opening of this famously nonsensical scene. While we cannot say with any certainty, it appears that the cel may be on a master background. The background appears to be on the right paper and to be the right age, but we cannot locate it for certain in the DVD.
The aperture measures 9" x 8" while the matte measures 14.75" x 13.5". Please note: This artwork is NOT eligible for the Sneak Peek promotions.
The cel has been trimmed and affixed to the background as is common for cels that were given as gifts by the studio. As visible in the image, there is some brown mottling throughout the character. There are a few areas of paint separation with no paint loss in the ears, hair, cup, and clothing. There is evidence of slight lifting with no paint loss in the eyes, hand and clothing. Signed by Walt Disney.
The size of the image is 8.4" h x 5.5" w.
