Alice in Wonderland (1951) Concept piece of The Queen Of Hearts. This is an amazing concept by Blair depicting the brutish Queen of hearts as she uses a court flamingo as a croquet mallet. It’s amazing to see how the artist’s vision was followed in the film. The Queen’s hairstyle, crown, and dress are nearly identical to Mary’s design of the character. In this piece we see geometric shapes take the form of hedges, shrubs and clouds; this is the type of stylization which is acutely representative of Mary Blair’s work.
This piece measures 7" x 9".
There is evidence of a pin hole towards the edge of each corner, outside of the image, which can be easily matted out..
The size of the image is 5" h x 5.25" w. US$ 8500 (unframed) WDAPP8
