Alice in Wonderland (1951) Concept piece of Alice. Following the white rabbit down the rabbit hole, Alice ends up in the topsy-turvy world of Wonderland where all the creatures speak in riddles and do exceptionally strange things. This background is depictive of the surreal landscape that surrounds her on her zany journey. Here, we see Alice pausing near a couple of signs; it’s as if she is trying to figure out which way to go. Her pathway is painted a golden hue of yellow and the trees are painted beautiful shades of rose and lilac. In the foreground there is an enormous mushroom and the background depicts either a cave or shaded tree which is painted a beautiful blue. From there, there is nothing but darkness, possibly alluding to the series of misadventures that are about to take place. This piece measures 7.5" x 8". There is evidence of a pin hole towards the edge of each corner, outside of the image, which can be easily matted out. The paper has had a tinge of color change around the outer edges only, as well as slight folding which measures 1" in the upper left hand corner, which is outside of the image as well.
