Fantasia (1940) Concept piece of Bacchus. One of Disney's great "experimenters,” James Bodrero was highly influential on character design at Disney Studios during the 1930’s and 1940’s. This beautiful concept piece comes from one of Disney’s most amazing feats, “Fantasia,” and depicts the decadent Bacchus dancing about with a centaurette. Bodrero’s concept would be followed closely in the making of the film and it is easy to see why. Bodrero had a way of finding the heart of character and designing the rest around it.
