Fantasia (1940) Concept piece of Some Centaurettes.
The image area measures 9" x 11.75" while the frame measures 21.5" x 24". English woman, Sylvia Holland, was a major contributor on Fantasia, as well as many other Disney classics. As seen here, she had a delicate touch which was faithfully rendered in the completed animation. The colors are muted, with subtly blended contrasts in tone ranging from a deep black to a soft cream, aquatic blues, and rich browns. The water effects in this stunning concept piece ripple in a pre-emptive flee from the plunge of an obese centaurette. Holland, a highly trained musician as well as artist, was clearly able to respond to the subtle grace of Fantasia’s soundtrack. Price is reflective of artwork only--the piece comes with the frame pictured. There is no change in price due to the frame--it can be de-framed upon request at purchase, but it will not change the price of the piece. Signed by Sylvia Holland.
