Concept piece of Pegasus and Baby Pegasus.
The majestic mother Pegasus glides from her treetop nest to the valley floor to rescue her littlest Pegasus from several unsuccessful attempts at flying on his own. The conceptual art for Fantasia often rivals the work of the traditional animators, and this piece is no exception. The strength and moment visible in the horse’s wings and flanks brings the bold colors of the piece to life.
The artwork measures 8.0" x 10.5"
As visible in the web image, the upper right corner, within the margin, has been torn and there is discoloration to the outer margins with some darker spots of discolorations in the lower right margin, these can be easily matted out. There is a 5.0" long crease that runs from the tear in the upper right corner to halfway across the upper edge. There is evidence of multiple pin holes in the margins by the upper left corner, halfway across the upper edge and along the lower edge around the peg holes. As pinning up work for evaluation was often part of the creative process, this is fairly common for this type of work. The right and left edges exhibit signs of cockling and there are two tears of 0.125" and 0.25" to the right edge 1.0" above the lower right corner. There are some faint spots of surface paper loss by the lower left corner and far left peg hole. These can all be easily matted out.
The size of this piece is 12 Field (11"x13")
